That's only about one-third the growth rate of specialty foods. Nuts and Seed Butters; Coffees, Coffee Substitutes and Cocoa; Refrigerated Salsas and Dips; and Yogurt and Kefir were the four categories with the strongest growth in mass market. Specialty foods represent 10.6 percent of total U.S. food sales. However, some categories have significantly higher market share, including condiments and toppings (i.e., salsas, pickles, and dressings/marinades), beverages including tea and coffee (non-RTD), and pasta sauces (both refrigerated and shelf-stable).
