Chia: A Seed for All Diets

he rise of ancient grains and seeds is in full swing, and one of the family's tiniest options is a powerhouse in the health department. Chia, a
plant-based source of omega 3 fatty acids, soluble fiber and protein,
is loaded with minerals and antioxidants. A slow release of energy means the
seeds make for a satiating snack or meal addition. Although chia seeds can be
eaten alone, blended into smoothies or hot cereal, or sprinkled on salads and
yogurt, manufacturers are showcasing them by revamping existing products or
creating altogether new ones, giving this ancient seed a modern look and taste.
