FOOD TRUCKS TAKE
OFF AT AIRPORTS
With chefs like Michael Lomonaco's
Prime Tavern at LaGuardia in New
York and Cat Cora's Kitchen at
San Francisco International, airport
food offerings continue to improve.
Now food trucks are contributing,
popping up at numerous airports
across the country. The trucks typically set up in airport waiting areas,
or cellphone lots, offering regional
foods to facility employees, travelers and the people waiting to
pick them up. Every Thursday, San
Francisco International Airport
has two to three trucks on-site,
such as Boardwalk Island, offering Hawaiian fare; Curry Up Now,
with Indian dishes; El Sur, serving empanadas; and Kung Fu Taco.
At Tampa International Airport,
some 20 food trucks rotate schedules, and at Cincinnati/Northern
Kentucky International, Harley Dogs
serves hot dogs, bratwurst and
more.—D.S.
