It's official! The largest Area ITALIA ever at the 60th Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City Reinforcing the ever-growing popularity of Italian food and wine in the United States, Italy will again dominate this year's Summer Fancy Food Show. In the Area ITALIA that extends over two floors of the Javits Center, the Italian Trade Commission will bring together an impressive range of exceptional products, all distinguished by their unique "Made in Italy" designation. "We are excited, as in every year, to bring the authentic Italian to the American table. Italy is a nation steeped in tradition, culture, beauty and good taste. What better way to convey all its richness than a massive sprawl of the best there is in Italian gastronomy?", said Pier Paolo Celeste, New York Trade Commissioner and Executive Director for the USA. He went on to describe the experience that awaits the visitors of Area ITALIA: "Picture yourself on a gustatory trip from the cool Italian north to the sunny and Mediterranean-washed south: everything from the Alps cheeses to the traditional Sardinian bread, to the fragrant sea salt, is for you to taste at the show." Pier Paolo Celeste stressed the important educational role of the Italian Trade Commission: "Ask us how long a cheese is aged and we'll tell you it couldn't be otherwise because its production is governed by precise Italian laws. Ask us why a product bears the name of a town and we'll explain what a geographic denomination of origin is and how strict the Italian regulations are in order to obtain it. But, when a product has such credentials (DOP Protected Denomination of Origin, IGP Protected Geographic Indication) they guarantee to the consumer that the product was made a regola d'arte, that is, perfectly. Come to Area ITALIA and TASTE, LEARN, LOVE." The complete directory of the Italian exhibitors will be available as an insert of the official show catalog and website, as well as on the official web site of the Food & Wine Sector of the Italian Trade Commission in New York www.italianmade.com. For more information, contact The Italian Trade Commission directly by telephone 212. 980.1500 fax 212.758.1050 or e-mail newyork@ice.it. The Italian participation at the show has been coordinated by the Italian Trade Commission and Universal Marketing, exclusive agent in Italy for the show organizer Specialty Food Association. The Italian Trade Commission and Universal Marketing Information Center will be located on Level 3, booths: 2704, 2805 and Level 1, booth 3677 Italy at the 60th edition of the Summer Fancy Food Show New York, June 29-July 1, 2014 lede_GMO.indd 35 6/6/14 11:02 AM
