W
hen you're born and raised on a farm in Canada, sugaring and maple are in your blood.
That's the case for Dori Ross, owner of Tonewood Maple, a specialty maple purveyor in
Mad River Valley, Vt. After a career in marketing and raising three children, Ross decided to
transform her passion for maple into a sustainable business in 2012. Built around a tree-adoption program
and a goal of supporting local, family-owned and -operated sugar makers, Tonewood provides artisanal
maple products in sophisticated packaging while helping to ensure sugaring remains a viable business for
future generations of Vermonters.
Dori Ross founded her maple business on local sourcing
an d environmental sustainability. Through Tonewood,
she is helping customers see the forest for the trees.
