A new study shows that high-quality free access to Wi-Fi, both for custom- ers and employees, increases customer loyalty and sales. Plus, store associates who can access mobile devices to find information and sav- ings for customers on the spot are nailing the sale, with the researchers noting the importance of creating "a connected, flexible workforce untethered to point-of-sale stations." IHL Group, EarthLink Holdings, and AirTight Net- works sponsored the study, which also showed that almost half of the participat- ing retailers reported a 3.4 percent increase in sales just from the availability of Wi-Fi.
