NEW Red Pepper and Goat Cheese Tapenade and six sun-dried tomato bruschetta toppings, in Parmesan, Feta, Olive and other varieties. "They're fresh-tasting and our customers love them because they're easy," says Barbara Macaluso, Delicaé Gourmet's owner. Delicaé's tapenades and bruschetta toppings are made without chemicals or preservatives and can be spooned over grilled bread, cream cheese, mini quiches and pizzas for a beautiful presentation. The holidays are when Macaluso sees the biggest bump in sales. "Everyone's working so hard to keep their heads above water, but they still want to entertain and share something healthy and deli- cious that they're proud of," she notes. Lee Greene, owner of The Scrumptious Pantry, Chicago, has seen a 25 to 30 percent increase in sales over the holidays for her two ready-made Italian toppings, Sun-dried Tomato Spread and Eggplant Spread. "It's an easy fix," Greene says of her spreads, which can be blended with cream cheese and daubed on crostini or mixed with egg yolks for lively deviled eggs. Even around the holidays people are thinking about making healthier choices while not wanting to feel deprived at parties. Lisa Johnson, with her Yummy Yammy Sweetpotato Dips, addresses that issue—a 12-ounce jar of Mexican- inspired Hot Fiesta Dip is 250 calories. Yummy Yammy Hot Fiesta Dip can be paired with cream cheese for an unconventional (and healthier) cheeseball.
