➊ ➋ ➌ FRUIT OF THE LAND PRODUCTS Tishbi Onion Cabernet SPREADS AND PRESERVES ARE SHAKING UP THE CONDIMENT CATEGORY with enticing flavors. Tishbi Onion Cabernet is the perfect example. Distributed by Ontario- based Fruit of the Land Inc., Oshra Tishbi's line of preserves and jellies are made with local fresh ingredients in small batches at her family's winery. Established in 1882, the winery was Israel's first and has been family-owned and -operated ever since. "When you combine award-winning wines with Mediterranean produce, you can't go wrong," says Stacey Kurtz, marketing director. Onion Cabernet combines slow-cooked caramelized onions and smooth cabernet sauvignon to achieve an elegant flavor balance. Whether spread on a baguette, baked atop a wheel of brie or served on a steak, it has the versatility to become a go-to condiment for cooking and entertaining. Kurtz delights in using this spread on baked potatoes. "It cuts the fat but also gives the potatoes great flavor so you don't even want to add butter or anything else," she says. Onion Cabernet has been extremely well-received by the U.S. market. A range of Tishbi products are carried at specialty retailers such as Dean & Deluca and Zabar's. With a baby on the way, Tishbi was unable to celebrate her win at the Summer Fancy Food Show. "It was the only reason she would ever miss a Show," says Kurtz. Between a growing family, product line and collection of sofi Awards—the celebrations are only beginning. Suggested retail price: $7.95–$8.95/8 ounces.
