➊ ➋ ➌ STONEWALL KITCHEN Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Mix REMINISCENT OF A TRADITIONAL RECIPE THAT HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN through generations, Stonewall Kitchen's Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Mix takes the cake in more ways than one. Unlike typical doughnuts, this recipe is baked, not fried, and requires no added yeast or oil for deep-frying. Stonewall introduced its line of make-at-home doughnuts in 2011 at the Winter Fancy Food Show, in line with consumers' growing interest in gourmet doughnuts. The first two flavors to debut were Chocolate with Chocolate Glaze and Cinnamon Sugar. Cinnamon Sugar was the immediate frontrunner and remains the top seller among the company's breakfast baking mixes. "We are thrilled to earn the sofi Gold for our Cinnamon Sugar Doughnut Mix," says Janine Somers, director of marketing. The company attributes its success to the doughnuts' easy recipe and healthier ingredients. "People tend to shy away from making doughnuts at home due to the complexity of the recipe," Somers says. "Our doughnut mixes are incredibly easy because we have removed the difficult steps like forming and frying." Offering multiple flavors in the line also helps with the appeal. In addition to Cinnamon Sugar and Chocolate with Chocolate Glaze, the mix is available in Apple Cider, Blueberry, Buttermilk, Gingerbread, Pumpkin and Gluten Free Cinnamon Sugar. Stonewall recommends baking the doughnuts in either a doughnut pan or doughnut maker, both sold by the company. The company also recommends its many fruit jams as a filling.
