➊ ➋ BRANDS OF BRITAIN Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic TRENDY DRINKS COME AND GO (remember cosmopolitans?), but Fever-Tree's line of mixers has no intention of leaving the limelight anytime soon. For the third consecutive year, a Fever-Tree product has won the sofi Cold Beverage category. Previously winning with Ginger Beer and Ginger Ale (in 2010 and 2011, respectively), the premium mixer company can now enjoy bragging rights for its Mediterranean Tonic. As with all Fever-Tree mixers, Mediterranean Tonic is made with natural and fresh ingredients. "The creators [Charles Rolls and Tim Warrillow] realized there was no point in buying premium vodka and gin, only to drown it in poor-quality mixers," says Chelsea Haley, marketing coordinator at Brands of Britain. The importer, based in San Ramon, Calif., brought Fever-Tree to the U.S. market after its 2005 launch in the United Kingdom. "[Rolls and Warrillow] found that the U.S. market drinks more vodka tonics than gin and tonics, which drove them to create a tonic that specifically pairs well with vodka." The tonic uses real cane sugar (as opposed to high-fructose corn syrup) and essential oils of fruits, flowers and herbs sourced from Provence and Sicily. The high-quality ingredients give Mediterranean Tonic a full- bodied flavor of lemon, thyme, rosemary and citrus, with the soft bitterness of natural quinine. Small, sparkling bubbles round off the tonic with a smooth texture and aroma, making it a perfect match for top-shelf vodkas. Suggested retail price: $5.99/200 ml 4-pack.
