association news New Conference Calls on Demand How to Handle Imported Foods and Ingredients. To comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act, importers must verify that their food imports are produced under a system that would meet the preventive control rules in the United States. In addition, manufacturers that import ingredients from other countries must be in control of their supply chain. Embrace Hunger Relief Month. The Specialty Food Foundation has expanded its signature Embrace Hunger program to a full month, says Philanthropy Director Laura Lozada. During April, Association members are invited to volunteer and donate to their food recovery or hunger relief organization of choice. SFA will track donations and volunteerism by members in its second East Coast vs. West Coast Embrace Hunger Relief Showdown. Since 2014, the Foundation has expanded Embrace Hunger Relief programming, from a day to a week and now a month after member requests for more time to plan and participate. On the Q&A; Forum The Solution Center's Q&A; Forum affords Association members the opportunity to discuss challenges, share knowledge, and network with peers. Here are snippets of some recent discussions. Manufacturer Coupons. "I want to create a paper, tear-off manufac- turer coupon for all five of our products … What's the most efficient way to accomplish this?" Measuring Promotional Success. "When we look at sales numbers for a promotional period, it is hard to determine what percent increase above our base sales should be considered a success …?" Getting Products to Customers. "We have distribution through several major distributors, but not in all regions ... How do other people handle this?" Export and Sales to UK. "Has anyone exported to the United Kingdom and, if so, can you share how you got started and what your supply chain looks like?" The Solution Center Q&A; Forum is open exclusively to members of the Specialty Food Association.
