y-Vee, the trailblazing retailer that champions the health and well-
ness of its shoppers with a fresh, local food selection and inventive
services like biometric screenings and healthy store tours, is once
again innovating to meet the needs of its customers' changing lifestyles. The
grocery chain with 246 stores across eight Midwestern states, last August
inked a deal to build, own, and operate 26 Wahlburger restaurants, making it
the largest franchisee of actor Mark Wahlberg and family's burger chain. It's
also teamed with Orangetheory Fitness to provide customers access to group
fitness programs in, or adjacent to, Hy-Vee stores.
Gosch recently spoke with Specialty Food Magazine about the West Des Moines,
Iowa, company's sourcing decisions, its commitment to specialty and local, and its
e-commerce strategy.
